Assignments |
Most assignments need to be in the form of plain text or formatted using HTML (just 'Save As' HTML using your favourite word processor). [Actually, you should probably own and use a WYSIWYG HTML editor, I use Claris Home Page, Mozilla Composer, and, occasionally, Microsoft Word-- all are good, and so too are many other programs.] There are two ways to submit an assignment. One: upload it using the Assignment dropbox (this technique is ok, but you can upload something only once so if, for example, you accidentally leave a few pages out, you cannot put that right). Two: send the assignments by WebCT internal email to me, put 'Assignment One (or Whatever)' as the subject and send the assignment either as the message or as an attachment to the message. If you want WebCT to display attachments properly, add .txt or .htm or.html as a suffix to the filename (ie call your file Smith1.html and then attach that) |
A note on 'Incompletes' |
The 1997-8 University of Arizona General Academic Manual, p.23 reads The grade of I may be awarded only at the end of a semester, when all but a minor portion of the course work has been satisfactorily completed. The grade of I is not to be awarded when the student is expected to repeat the course; in such a case the grade of E must be assigned. Students should make arrangements with the instructor to receive an incompete grade before the end of the semester ... |
Paper 1 |
Due xxxGeneral Grading considerations (in cases, like essays, where this applies): You should write about four pages (if you write less than 2 or more than 6 think carefully about what you are doing). I am not concerned with grammar, style, or spelling-- provided I can understand the paper and the faults are not so severe as to be a distraction.) |

Article Review |
Due xxxxxx Grading considerations: You should write about five pages-- a page and a half on each article will be fine (if you write less than 3 or more than 7 think carefully about what you are doing). I am not concerned with grammar, style, or spelling-- provided I can understand the paper and the faults are not so severe as to be a distraction.) These research papers (like most) have strengths and weaknesses. The course thus far-- with its emphasis on design-- should allow you to identify these. I'll be looking to see if you can. |
