Last altered 10/29/01 This is still under revision.

Requirements

The course requirements are

  • coursework
  • participation
  • final examination.

The coursework requirement will be, by default, two papers, one due about 4 weeks and the other 8 weeks into the course, at times to be announced in class.

The participation requirement is that you do a presentation in class and contribute to the discussions accompanying other presentations.

The final examination will be a take-home exam of three hours duration. It will be distributed electronically on <date to come> and has to be returned by <date to come> at 11.55pm.

The coursework will count for 40% of the final grade, the participation 20%, and the final exam for 40% of the grade.

Academic Code of Integrity

Students are expected to abide by The University of Arizona Code of Academic Integrity. 'The guiding principle of academic integrity is that a student's submitted work must be the student's own.' If you have any questions regarding what is acceptable practice under this Code, please ask an instructor.

Join our listserv

There will be a listserv for this course. It will be established about the beginning of January 2002. Most of you will be familiar with listservs. But if not: there are two email addresses you need to deal with. The first is for joining or leaving a particular group. The second is for sending messages to a group that you have joined

To join, send an email message to listserv@listserv.arizona.edu with 'Subscribe IRLS606' in the body of the message.

Then to send messages to all of us, send to

IRLS606@listserv.arizona.edu.

A trap for young players-- remember that if you read a message from a listserv then hit 'reply 'on your emailer you will be replying to all other members of the listserv (this may not be what you intend, you may wish to send a reply only to the person posting (in which case extract their email address and go from there)).
