Introduction to Microcomputers

Course Goals:
Introduction to Microcomputers to introduce you to various PC software applications and the Internet. Five major areas will be covered:
- Operating Systems
- Internet and World Wide Web
- Word Processing
- Databases
- Spreadsheets
Grading:
Grades will be based on the following:
- Create a DOS directory tree on a floppy disk--10 pts.
- Set up your address book in Pine--10 pts.
- Join and participate in the class email list and ARIZSLS--10 pts.
- Create and mount a homepage--10 pts.
- Perform an Internet search on a topic of personal interest--10 pts.
- FTP two documents on a topic of personal interest--10 pts.
- Writing a resume using Word for Windows--10 pts.
- Complete a database search test--10 pts.
- Create a spreadsheet--10 pts.
- Set up rooms on Elysium with exits and automessages--10 pts.
- Your choice with instructor's approval--10 pts.
The grading scale will be as follows:
- A 95 - 110 points
- B 85 - 94 points
- C 75 - 84 points
