Course
description
Introduces students to
theoretical and practical aspects of searching electronic databases such as
library catalogs, article indexes, full-text repositories, and statistical
compendia. Addresses issues involving database suppliers and vendors; query
formulation, results evaluation, and query revision; search interfaces and
engines; search strategies; and information-seeking behavior. A series of
exercises provides students with search experience and a more in-depth
assignment allows students to learn more about the searching process in
context.

Assignments
Every student must complete
every required assignment to receive a final grade in the course. Students will
be evaluated on the quality of their performance in three
