The University of Arizona School of Information Resources and Library Science (SIRLS) proudly extends congratulations to our Library Student Organization (LSO) for winning the American Library Association's coveted ALA Student Chapter of the Year Award!

LSO students have been hard at work all year providing valuable workshops, training, and important resources for SIRLS students. ALA has recognized LSO for this dedication to inclusiveness, outreach, and programming. For example, in the last year, LSO has:

Organized and hosted the 2nd Annual SIRLS Graduate Student Symposium in November 2007
Organized a Jobs, Careers, and Pizza series with sessions in Tucson and Phoenix throughout the Fall 2006 semester
Sponsored numerous workshops on career-planning, resume-writing, and other critical professional skills
Helped organize the multidisciplinary "Information Ethics Roundtable" held in March 2007 at the University of Arizona
Published regular issues of BiblioTech, the web zine for SIRLS students
And so much more to enrich the social and professional experiences of SIRLS students locally and around the world.

Please show your support for tomorrow's leading librarians and information professionals by helping us raise the funds necessary to send ten LSO students to the ALA annual conference in Washington, DC this summer to accept the Student Chapter of the Year award. Our goal of $5,000 is attainable only through your generous support.
